uninstalled previous version. no sign of it using ftp. tried to install 2.1.0 getting error message

There was an error uploading this file to the server

using joomla 1.5.15

help.

found problem, the php5.ini file did not allow me to install software. just trying to lock down my website after getting hacked. thanks.
